MMCT Military Speaker Series

The Metroplex Military Charitable Trust (MMCT) announces the first of its Military Speaker Series fundraising luncheons. Since 1990, MMCT has been an avid supporter and creator of numerous military charities in the region.   Noteworthy are the creation of the Metroplex Veterans Legal Services legal clinics; the underwriting of expenses for the local Toys for Tots campaigns, the extensive support of local high school Junior ROTC programs as well as the purchase of vans for the Veterans Resource Center to transport veterans to and from the local VA hospital.

Please join us as we support DFW veterans by experiencing historic military events as told by those who lived it in support of our country’s freedom.

VIETNAM HUGH VAN ES OBIT

The Metroplex Military Charitable Trust (MMCT) announces the first of its Military Speaker Series fundraising luncheons.  This program consists of a presentation by Colonel Tony Wood, USMC (Ret) describing his experiences during the evacuation of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam war.

What makes this presentation unique is that the audience will learn new, specific, and fascinating facts, told by a career professional, describing his participation in one of the most historic events in the Vietnam war.

Colonel Tony Wood, USMC (Ret), having served one tour as an advisor to the Republic of Korea Marine Corps Blue Dragon Brigade, began his second tour in 1974 commanding a joint field unit which attempted, despite North Vietnamese attacks, to resolve the status of the several thousand US MIA. When those operations were cut short by the North’s invasion, Wood was assigned a unique role in planning and executing the evacuation of thousands from Saigon. Both tours resulted in several unusual and, in some cases controversial, decisions and actions.

Join us to listen to tales of individual courage, institutional weaknesses and, above all, of American character.

The program will be held in the auditorium at the Frontiers of Flight Museum.   A $75.00 donation is requested with 100% of the receipts going to support the Metroplex Military Charitable Trust.
