Brigadier General Albert E. Brewster, who in 1977 led efforts to get the Marine Corps commandant membership on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, died at 94 in Frisco. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway in Frisco at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 1. Burial will follow at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. on October 1.
During the Korean War, Brewster led a mortar platoon. In 1955, he earned his wings as pilot. Brewster served on the USS Enterprise during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962 and made more than 100 carrier landings. Flying out of Marine Corps Air Station Chu Lai, Vietnam, Brewster flew 105 combat sorties.
From 1977-1980, Brewster held the post of legislative assistant to the commandant before retiring from his 29-year Marine Corps career.
