Lieutenant General Richard E. Carey retired from the Marine Corps on 1 March 1983. The general was presented the Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious service to the Government of the United States in a duty of great responsibility as Commanding General, Marine Corps Development and Education Command, Quantico, Virginia, from November 1980 through February 1983.
Born 10 January 1928, in Columbus, Ohio, he enlisted in the V-5 program in 1945. With the discontinuance of the V-5 program, he was discharged and enlisted in the Marine Corps and advanced to the rank of sergeant prior to his commissioning as a second lieutenant in 1948. As a rifle platoon commander, he participated in combat operations in Korea, including the Inchon Landing and Chosin Reservoir, where he earned the Silver Star Medal prior to his medical evacuation to the United States after being wounded in action. In 1951, he served for a year as a company commander at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, and then reported to Pensacola, Florida, for flight training.
Major General James Williams served his country in the military for 38 years; he retired 1 August 2010. He has commanded Marines at every level in and out of combat.
He was last assigned as the Commanding General, 4th Marine Division from April 2007 to April 2010. He is a certified Force Reconnaissance Special Operations Marine, which includes specialized training in counter-terrorism operations, combat martial arts, mountaineering, military combat scuba diving, long range amphibious operations, submarine special operations, special weapons and tools training, cross training with Army Rangers, Army Special Forces, Navy SEALS, Air Force Special Operations, and Allied Special Operations Units, and military freefall skydiving operations (HALO/HAHO).
Colonel Anthony A. Wood is a Marine Corps combat veteran whose career extended for more than thirtyZfour years. In the first of his two combat tours in Viet Nam he served as a platoon commander in operations with the Republic of Korea Blue Dragon Brigade. During his second tour he commanded a joint contingent in MIA resolution operations. He is well known for his heroic role in the evacuation of Saigon in April of 1975 at the close of the Viet Nam War. Then Captain Wood organized a group of American civilian volunteers who assumed great personal risk to remain without protection and evacuate over 5,000 persons from the collapsing capital Later, as Chief of Staff of Marine Forces in the Pacific, Colonel Wood journeyed to Vladivostok and Khabarovsk in Siberia charged with negotiating a tension reduction agreement with the senior leadership of the Russian Pacific Fleet and the Russian Far East Military District.

Grand Daughter of Marine Corps Commandant | General Alexander Vandegrift
Stephanie Vandegrift’s relationship with veterans started at birth in Quantico, Virginia, as she was born the third daughter of Marine Colonel A.A. Vandegrift, Jr. (Iwo Jima) and third granddaughter of General A.A. Vandegrift Sr. (Guadalcanal) 18th Commandant. Being a Marine’s daughter, she grew up moving around the country and was also stationed on Guam on the cliff.
Stephanie graduated from Hollins University with a degree in Economics and Studio Art. Her corporate life began in Wichita Falls, Texas at Coca-Cola USA where she specialized in sales, marketing, and management. She was the first female hired in the southwest region as a territory sales manager for Coca-Cola. She was quickly promoted to senior district manager and was one of only two females out of 44 district managers.
Mike McCollum is a 1962 graduate of Kimball HS in Dallas and matriculated at the University of Texas, Austin, Texas. Upon graduation from the University of Texas School of Law with a LLB in June 1968, he was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the United States Marine Corps and served successive tours in Southeast Asia as a SJA Defense Counsel and as an Aerial Observer.
Upon his release from active duty in June 1971, McCollum returned to Dallas and simultaneously worked as a member of the 1972-75 Associate Faculty of the Caruth Institute of Owner Managed Business at SMU Cox School of Business from 72 through 75, and as an Assistant District Attorney in both the Appellate and Prosecution Divisions of Dallas County District Attorney’s Office under the legendary Henry Wade.
